  3. BEIS Committee Inquiry into the MPS

The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee (“BEIS Committee”), which is a Commons Select Committee, has recently conducted an inquiry into the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme (“MPS”). The BEIS Committee published its report on 29 April 2021 and a copy of the report can be found here committees.parliament.uk.

The inquiry did not consider BCSSS and the report only relates to MPS. The BCSSS Trustees did, however, write to the BEIS Committee’s Chair to clarify some information that was considered relevant to the inquiry. You can read that letter here.

The BCSSS Trustees will review the BEIS Committee’s report and consider any aspects which might have relevance for BCSSS. The Trustees will then seek to discuss any such relevant areas with the Guarantor, most likely as part of the discussions around the actuarial valuation as at 31 March 2021.
